I write this on the feast of Pentecost, my favorite liturgical celebration, the gift of the Holy Spirit for each of us and all of us! I reflect on Galatians 5:25 “If we live by the Spirit, let us follow the Holy Spirit’s leading in every aspect of our lives.” This is my prayer, hope and goal as I chair the Theresian Foundation Board this year. Together with the leadership of Theresians International and the U.S. National Leadership Team, I will work on open and better communication, common goals, and both the long-term financial goals and short-term needs of the organization.
Over the past few years, the Theresian Foundation Board has been educated on investments and goals to both support the organization’s short-term needs and ensure financial perpetuity. It is a delicate balance that needs careful attention, prayerful decision-making, on-going planning and promotion to our membership. By increasing the Theresian Foundation balance, we will be able to also increase our contribution to Theresians International each year. I feel it’s important for every Theresian to know and understand the difference and importance of paying annual dues and contributing to the Theresian Fund and Foundation on a regular/annual, basis. This is the collective goal of the Theresian leaders this next year and you will all be educated on the financial health and well-being of our entire organization. As a wise Theresian said, “Theresians is NOT a fund-raising organization but we are an organization that needs funds! If we did not have the Annual Fund, Theresians would be no more.” I will add to that, “If we did not have the Theresian Foundation, our future would not be bright or hopeful.”
Most of all, I ask for your prayers, they are needed, valuable and priceless! Sr. Pat Burke never forgot to remind us and inspire us in prayerful discernment and decision-making and I’d be remiss not to mention the need for the on-going prayers of each and every Theresian member. My sincere thanks and appreciation for your prayerful support of Theresians International.
It’s so easy to miss the presence of God and promptings of the Holy Spirit when we are too busy and consumed by our own “stuff”. We need to see Christ in our midst, in the everyday moments and follow the Holy Spirit’s lead in every aspect of our lives. All the gifts we have been given are for us to share and serve others.
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful Theresians. We trust in your abundant blessings!
